Vintage assessments for Beaujolais from 1988 to 2007
YearVINES.ORGRobert ParkerRVFDetails
2004Beaujolais had the same poor weather conditions as the rest of Burgundy in 2004, with cool temperature and damp weather. Some warm weather in the Spring retrieved the situation to allow flowering only a week later than usual; July and the beginning of August followed the usual weather pattern. But then temperatures dropped during August and rainfall increased to the point where 160 mm fell in the one month. Grapes swelled and rot occurred. The weather turned at the very end of August and became warm and sunny with drying breezes, which stopped the rot and rescured the harvest.
200391BThe unusual conditions of heat in 2003 created good quality Beaujolais but at very much reduced volumes.
200275A***The vintage in the South of Burgundy, including Côte Chalonnaise, Macon, and Beaujolais, was spoiled by rain.
